LAHORE: The lowering of the flag ceremony was held at Wagah Border in Lahore as a daily military practice which was attended by a large number of people including women, children, old and young on Pakistan Day, Friday.
People raised slogans of Allah u Akbar and Pakistan Zindabad as the Pakistan Rangers personnel in their traditional style lowered the flag. The participants’ excitement grew higher as they witnessed the parade ceremony.
The ceremony was live broadcast on TV channels.

Indian security forces (Border Security Force) also observed the flag lowering ceremony. This practice has jointly been followed by the neighbouring countries since 1959. The drill is characterized by elaborate and rapid dancelike manoeuvres.
It is alternatively a symbol of the two countries’ rivalry, as well as brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations.
The flag is lowered before the dusk and hoisted again after the dawn.
